FERRAGAMO FACTORY

Osmannoro (FI)

VIP Walkway and Laboratory Structure, Emergency Exit Stairs

Studio Archea Associati

A refined intervention of enhancement and renovation distinguishes this work, a project for Salvatore Ferragamo, one of the most important fashion houses in Italian history.
The project involved the reorganization and expansion of the old structure of the factory located in Florence: the building, once used as a warehouse, now houses the conveyor belt and the technical studios of the designers. The main challenge was to combine the different work needs dictated by different operating methods, enclosing them in a single environment. The factory, from an anonymous volume, wants to become a representative architecture of the brand, and from a closed enclosure it wants to open up to welcome visitors with the arrangement of the green spaces in front of the building.
The protagonist of the intervention is the internal suspended walkway, a Ferragamo Red ribbon, positioned in the center of the production area on the ground floor, inside a completely black box. This has a clearly recognizable bow shape, in reference to one of the historic icons of the fashion house.
The long distribution corridor is a link with the history of the brand: thousands of wooden shoe lasts are hanging, including some original pieces used to make the elegant shoes of Sophia Loren, Greta Garbo and Marilyn Monroe, clearly visible thanks to the completely glass walls.
The second floor is entirely dedicated to the historical archive of the brand and to the exhibition of the numerous works of art commissioned over time by the company to many artists.
Volumes, lights, rounded and enveloping shapes characterize the project representing a clear reference to the colors and the world of fashion, of which Salvatore Ferragamo was a protagonist.
