The new headquarters of the IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi-Sant’Ambrogio in the former Expo Milano 2015 area, now MIND, Milano Innovation District, together with the Human Technopole and the State University, is one of the cornerstones of the future ecosystem of research, innovation and care, a unique project in Italy and among the most advanced in Europe.
The new structure – a building of about 180,000 m2 of modern architectural design, designed according to the most innovative standards of sustainability and functionality – unites in a single location the skills and specializations relating to the two existing Institutes that are part of the GSD Group, the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi and the Istituto Clinico Sant’Ambrogio. The new Hospital began operating in August 2022.
The New Galeazzi is the first example in Italy of a “Hospital of the Future”, founded on the close integration between Research, University Training and Care. It is also the first example of a modern vertical hospital in Italy, among the few in Europe and the world.
In addition to the University Classrooms and Research Laboratories, the offer in terms of hospitality has been increased to 600 beds, alongside diagnostic and intervention spaces and technologies, according to the most advanced treatment methodologies, the most modern concepts of hospital technology, organization and provision of healthcare services, within the integrated network of hospital facilities of the San Donato Group.
The project, winner of the 2019 CNETO Award as "Best Project", is a candidate for LEED GOLD V4 Certification.
