TORINO OUTLET VILLAGE

Settimo Torinese (TO)

Load-bearing structures of buildings and roofs

Claudio Silvetrin Architects

Torino Outlet Village (TOV) in Settimo Torinese is a luxury shopping center located near the Turin metropolitan area. This outlet stands out for hosting high fashion brands, each with its own store, and aims to offer an elegant and refined shopping experience. The architectural design of the TOV emphasizes a reduction of superfluous architectural elements, creating a homogeneous and welcoming environment. The aim is to guarantee a pleasant and peaceful experience for visitors, guiding them through well-organized spaces without unnecessary distractions.
The design of the TOV plays on the opposition between horizontality and verticality. The main structure, 290 meters long, develops horizontally, creating a sort of intimacy for visitors. This horizontal extension is completed by a series of porticoed paths punctuated by pillars, which offer visual and functional continuity. The shops overlook these paths, forming a long and welcoming promenade. The architecture integrates open spaces, such as tree-lined courtyards, with covered spaces, creating a fluidity between inside and outside.
High-quality materials and traditional construction techniques have been used to convey a sense of elegance and sophistication. Sandstone floors and lime plasters, applied using ancient techniques, help create tactile and visually rich surfaces. The tonal variation of the surfaces, which changes with the light of day and the seasons, adds an artistic dimension to the space. Modern technology is integrated into the thermal insulation system and the air conditioning system, which uses a hydraulic ring with heat pumps.
A distinctive element of the project is the 85-meter-high obelisk tower, which serves as a signpost and visual reference point. This vertical element, composed of two metal prisms with pearlescent paint, rises above the horizon, marking the entrance to the outlet and attracting the attention of passers-by. The tower, visible from afar, also serves as a symbol of modernity and connection with the nearby city of Turin, emphasizing the metropolitan influence of the place.
In short, the Torino Outlet Village represents an expression of elegance and modernity through refined and minimalist architecture. The opposition between horizontality and verticality, along with the use of quality materials and advanced technologies, creates a sophisticated and welcoming environment for visitors. The architecture not only hosts a high-end shopping experience, but also seeks to integrate harmoniously with the surrounding environment, offering a coherent aesthetic and functional experience.
